Authors’ Instructions
Biotechnology Archives – An International Journal welcomes high-quality submissions that contribute meaningfully to the advancement of biotechnology and related life sciences. Authors are strongly encouraged to read these instructions carefully before preparing and submitting their manuscripts. Adherence to the journal’s guidelines ensures a smooth editorial workflow and facilitates timely peer review. Manuscripts that do not conform to the formatting or ethical standards described below may be returned to the authors for revision prior to peer review. The journal publishes scholarly work across a broad spectrum of biotechnology disciplines, including agricultural biotechnology, medical and pharmaceutical biotechnology, environmental biotechnology, industrial biotechnology, microbial biotechnology, molecular and cellular biotechnology, genetic engineering, genomics, bioinformatics, nanobiotechnology, synthetic biology, plant and animal biotechnology, bioprocess engineering, bioenergy, and bioremediation. Authors must ensure that their manuscript clearly aligns with the journal’s scope and demonstrates scientific rigor, originality, and relevance to the field.
Biotechnology Archives accepts original research articles, review articles, mini reviews, short communications, case studies, perspectives, and invited editorials. Original research articles should present novel experimental or theoretical findings supported by robust methodology and reliable data. Review articles are expected to provide comprehensive and critical evaluations of current developments within a defined topic area. Short communications should report significant preliminary findings of immediate importance, while case studies may focus on practical applications of biotechnology in academic, industrial, or clinical settings.
Manuscripts must be written in clear, concise, and grammatically correct English. Submissions should be prepared in Microsoft Word format using Times New Roman, 12-point font, and double spacing throughout the document. All pages should be numbered consecutively, and standard SI units must be used consistently. Authors are encouraged to ensure linguistic accuracy before submission, as poorly written manuscripts may be returned for language improvement.
The title page should contain a concise and informative title that accurately reflects the content of the manuscript. Full names of all authors must be provided along with their institutional affiliations, including department, institution, city, and country. The corresponding author should be clearly identified with a valid email address, and ORCID identifiers may be included where available. The title should avoid unnecessary abbreviations and should clearly convey the primary focus or findings of the study.
The abstract should be structured as a single comprehensive paragraph of approximately 200–300 words. It must clearly summarize the background of the study, its objectives, methodology, principal findings, and overall conclusions. The abstract should be able to stand independently of the main text and should not contain citations or undefined abbreviations. Authors should also provide four to six relevant keywords that reflect the central themes of the manuscript and enhance discoverability.
For original research articles, the main body of the manuscript should generally follow a standard structure consisting of Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion, and Conclusion. The Introduction should provide sufficient background information and clearly state the objectives of the study. The Materials and Methods section must describe experimental procedures, materials used, and statistical analyses in sufficient detail to allow replication. The Results section should present findings logically and objectively, supported by tables and figures where appropriate. The Discussion should interpret the findings, compare them with existing literature, highlight their significance, and acknowledge any limitations. The Conclusion should concisely summarize the major outcomes and their broader implications.
Tables and figures should be presented clearly and professionally. Tables must be editable and numbered consecutively in the order they appear in the text, each accompanied by a descriptive title. Figures should be submitted in high-resolution formats (minimum 300 dpi) such as JPG, PNG, TIFF, or EPS. Each figure must include a detailed legend explaining all symbols, abbreviations, and statistical indicators. Image manipulation that alters or misrepresents scientific data is strictly prohibited.
References must be cited in numerical order within the text using square brackets and listed in the reference section in the same sequence. Authors are responsible for ensuring that all references are accurate, complete, and formatted consistently. Citations should include sufficient bibliographic information to allow readers to locate the original sources.
Biotechnology Archives adheres to strict ethical standards in publishing. All listed authors must have made substantial contributions to the research and must approve the final manuscript before submission. Ghost authorship, gift authorship, and any form of unethical authorship practice are not permitted. Authors must disclose any financial or personal conflicts of interest that could influence their work. If no conflicts exist, the statement “The authors declare no conflict of interest” should be included in the manuscript.
Studies involving human participants must include a statement confirming approval from an appropriate institutional ethics committee and informed consent from participants. Research involving animals must indicate approval from the relevant animal ethics authority. All manuscripts are screened for plagiarism, and submissions found to contain plagiarism, self-plagiarism, data fabrication, or falsification will be rejected.
The journal operates under a fully open access policy, ensuring that all published articles are freely available online immediately upon publication. Authors retain copyright of their work, and articles are distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) License, which permits unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction provided the original work is properly cited.
An Article Processing Charge (APC) of USD 100 is applicable upon acceptance of the manuscript. There is no submission fee. The APC covers editorial handling, peer review management, production, and online publication. Payment is requested only after the manuscript has been formally accepted for publication.
All manuscripts undergo an initial editorial screening followed by peer review conducted by independent experts in the relevant field. The review process evaluates originality, methodological soundness, clarity of presentation, scientific contribution, and relevance to the journal’s scope. The final decision rests with the Editor-in-Chief.
Manuscripts should be submitted electronically via email to editor@crcjournals.org. The corresponding author must confirm that the manuscript is original, has not been published previously, is not under consideration elsewhere, and has been approved by all co-authors. Upon acceptance, authors may receive page proofs for minor corrections prior to final publication.
For any questions regarding submission, formatting, ethics, or publication policies, authors are encouraged to contact the editorial office at editor@crcjournals.org.
