Editorial Policies

Biotechnology Archives – An International Journal is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics, transparency, and editorial integrity. The journal follows internationally recognized best practices and aligns its policies with the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), and the World Association of Medical Editors (WAME). These principles guide our editorial decisions, peer review procedures, and publication standards to ensure the credibility and quality of published research. For any editorial inquiries, authors may contact the editorial office at editor@crcjournals.org.

Biotechnology Archives operates as a fully open access journal. All published articles are freely and permanently accessible online without subscription barriers. Readers may read, download, copy, distribute, print, and share the published content for lawful purposes without seeking prior permission, provided proper attribution is given to the original authors and source. Open access ensures wider dissemination, increased visibility, and greater impact of scholarly work.

Authors retain full copyright of their published articles. Upon acceptance, authors grant the journal the right of first publication through a License to Publish agreement. All articles are distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) License, which permits unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction in any medium, including commercial use, provided appropriate credit is given and any changes are indicated. Authors must ensure that submitted work is original, not under consideration elsewhere, and that permission has been obtained for any copyrighted material included in the manuscript.

The journal charges an Article Processing Charge (APC) of USD 100 for each accepted article. There is no submission fee, and the APC is payable only after the manuscript has been accepted for publication. The journal maintains transparency in its fee structure and does not impose any hidden charges. Waivers or discounts may be considered for authors from low-income countries or under special circumstances upon request.

Biotechnology Archives follows a single-blind peer review system in which reviewers are aware of the authors’ identities, while authors do not know the reviewers’ identities. All submitted manuscripts, except invited editorials, undergo a rigorous review process to evaluate originality, methodological soundness, scientific validity, ethical compliance, and relevance to the journal’s scope. Each submission is first screened for suitability and plagiarism using similarity detection software. Manuscripts deemed appropriate are sent to at least two independent expert reviewers. Based on reviewers’ comments, the Editor-in-Chief makes the final decision, which may include acceptance, minor revision, major revision, or rejection. Editorial decisions are made independently and are not influenced by the publisher.

Authorship must meet internationally accepted criteria. All listed authors should have made substantial contributions to the conception or design of the work, data acquisition or analysis, manuscript drafting or revision, and final approval of the version to be published. Each author must take responsibility for the integrity of the work. Manuscripts must include statements on author contributions, conflicts of interest, funding sources, and data availability. Any changes to authorship after submission require written consent from all authors and approval from the editorial office.

All authors, reviewers, and editors are required to disclose any potential conflicts of interest that could influence the research or its interpretation. If no conflicts exist, authors must clearly state that they have no competing interests. Full transparency helps maintain trust in the scientific record.

Research involving human participants must comply with ethical standards such as the Declaration of Helsinki and must have received approval from an appropriate institutional ethics committee. Written informed consent must be obtained from participants. Research involving animals must also comply with institutional and international guidelines for animal care and use, and ethical approval statements must be included in the manuscript. Clinical trials must be registered in a publicly accessible registry prior to participant enrollment, and the registration number must be provided in the manuscript.

The journal strongly encourages authors to make research data publicly available in appropriate repositories whenever possible. A Data Availability Statement must be included in each manuscript to indicate where and how the data supporting the findings can be accessed. Transparency in data sharing enhances reproducibility and research integrity.

All submissions are screened for plagiarism using similarity detection software. Plagiarism, data fabrication, falsification, image manipulation, duplicate publication, and unethical research practices are considered serious misconduct. Any allegations of misconduct are investigated in accordance with COPE guidelines. If necessary, the journal may issue corrections, expressions of concern, or retractions. Retracted articles remain accessible to maintain the scholarly record but are clearly marked as retracted.

The confidentiality of manuscripts and the peer review process is strictly maintained. Editors and reviewers must not disclose or use unpublished materials for personal advantage. The journal also allows authors to post preprints of their work, provided that the published version is properly cited after acceptance.

Biotechnology Archives ensures long-term preservation of published articles through recognized digital archiving systems. Authors may also deposit their published articles in institutional repositories or funding agency archives in accordance with journal policies.

Authors who wish to appeal an editorial decision or raise a complaint may contact the editorial office at editor@crcjournals.org. All appeals and complaints are handled fairly, confidentially, and in accordance with established ethical guidelines.

Through these policies, Biotechnology Archives upholds its commitment to academic excellence, ethical publishing, and the advancement of global biotechnology research.
