Article Processing Charge (APC)

Article Processing Charge (APC)

Biotechnology Archives – An International Journal operates under a gold open access publishing model. All published articles are made freely and permanently accessible online immediately upon publication, without subscription barriers or access restrictions. This model ensures that research findings are widely disseminated and available to researchers, institutions, policymakers, and the global scientific community.

To support the editorial workflow, peer review management, production services, and long-term digital preservation, the journal charges an Article Processing Charge (APC) of USD 100 per accepted article. There is no submission fee. The APC is payable only after a manuscript has successfully completed peer review and has been formally accepted for publication. Authors are not required to pay any additional hidden or supplementary fees.

The APC contributes to the sustainability of the journal and covers the full range of publication services, including editorial assessment, peer review coordination, plagiarism screening, copyediting, formatting, typesetting, digital archiving, online hosting, and overall journal administration.

APC Waivers and Discounts

Biotechnology Archives is committed to supporting researchers globally and recognizes that financial constraints should not be a barrier to publication. The journal therefore offers waivers and discounts under specific circumstances.

Authors from low-income countries, as classified by the World Bank, are eligible for a 100% APC waiver. Authors from lower-middle-income countries may be eligible for a 50% APC discount. Eligibility is determined based on the corresponding author’s country of affiliation at the time of submission.

Editorials and corrections are published free of charge and are exempt from APC fees.

Authors experiencing genuine financial hardship may apply for a partial waiver prior to manuscript submission. Each request will be evaluated individually and confidentially. Requests for waivers or discounts do not influence editorial decisions in any way. All editorial decisions are made solely on the basis of scientific merit and quality.

Discounts cannot be combined; when multiple discounts apply, only the highest eligible discount will be granted.

APC Payment Process

Once a manuscript is accepted, the corresponding author will receive an official acceptance letter along with an invoice. Payment must be completed within 30 days of receiving the invoice. The author, their institution, funding agency, or employer may arrange the payment.

Publication will proceed after confirmation of payment. Once the APC has been paid, it is non-refundable except in exceptional circumstances determined by the journal.

Payment instructions will be provided in the acceptance communication. For assistance regarding invoices or payment methods, authors may contact the editorial office at:

How APC Funds Are Utilized

The Article Processing Charge supports the essential services required to maintain high publishing standards and global accessibility.

APC revenue is allocated toward manuscript handling and peer review management, including communication with authors, reviewers, and editors. It supports plagiarism detection services and editorial quality control processes. Funds are also used for professional copyediting, formatting, PDF typesetting, and preparation of publication-ready files.

Additionally, APCs contribute to website maintenance, digital hosting infrastructure, long-term electronic archiving, indexing preparation, and administrative operations necessary to ensure the stability and integrity of the journal. A portion of funds may also support journal promotion and outreach activities that enhance visibility and dissemination of published research.

Biotechnology Archives remains committed to maintaining transparency in its publication fees and ensuring that editorial decisions remain independent of financial considerations.
